IUGC Class

The 2014 BEIMS International User Group Conference (IUGC) was successfully held in Melbourne earlier this year. The conference, held in May, featured 5 days of training, workshop sessions, site visits, social events and a user group meeting. We had a fantastic turn-out over the week, with more than 70 people coming from all over Australia & New Zealand to participate.

Here's a quick wrap-up of the week's events for those that couldn't attend:

Monday & Tuesday:
We ran 15 different training sessions during the first 2 days of IUGC, including our standard 2-day BEIMS training course, Crystal reports training & comprehensive contractor management training. On Tuesday, we also took a group of attendees on a tour of two prominent BEIMS sites, visiting the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Albert Park, and 101 Collins Street in the CBD (Once again, a big thank you to our wonderful site visit hosts). The conference welcome drinks were held on the waterfront in Docklands at Harbour Kitchen on Tuesday evening.

The BEIMS International User Group Meeting (IUGM) kicked off in the auditorium with a large crowd in attendance. Mercury Computer Systems Managing Director Garry Busowsky gave a sneak peek at the next generation of BEIMS (currently named vNEXT) and discussed what had been an exciting two years of software releases since 2012's IUGM. Head of BEIMS Support, Ali Syed, presented his take on a number of important issues, and we heard from 3 guest speakers, including Leigh Parker from Moyne Health Services, Rob Oudshoorn from the University of Canterbury and Wayne Millar from Charles Sturt University. The round-table discussion after lunch certainly sparked the crowd's interest with a number of interesting topics being debated robustly.

Wednesday Evening:
Our conference dinner was held at Eureka89, on the 89th floor of the Eureka Tower in Southbank. Guests enjoyed amazing food in front of breath-taking, sweeping views of Melbourne. It was certainly an evening that won't be forgotten anytime soon.

Check out our website or our Facebook page for more photos from IUGC.

We also gave away the following awards throughout the evening:

Innovation Award: Flinders University (SA)
Special Site Recognition Award: Monash University (VIC)
Excellence Award:
Capital & Coast District Health Board (NZ)
Bay of Plenty District Health Board (NZ)
Distinguished User Award:
Leigh Parker - Moyne Health Services (VIC)
Wayne Millar - Charles Sturt University (NSW)
Tracy A'Hearn - Monash University (VIC)
Chris Cook - Bay of Plenty District Health Board (NZ)

Thursday & Friday:
We ran 12 workshop sessions during the final two days of IUGC, before finally bidding everyone goodbye just before lunchtime on the Friday.

IUGC Presentation Material
We've made a large amount of material presented during IUGC available for download to all BEIMS Clients via the BEIMS Client Portal. Simply log in then click on "My Downloads" and you should see a number of .zip files under the heading "Files Available To All Clients" at the top of the list.

During the week we heard high demand from our client base for an Android version of pocketBEIMS Work Orders, which we hope to make an announcement about in the near future. Our developers and consultants also received countless ideas for enhancements to be made to existing BEIMS products, some of which have already been implemented!

We would like to thank everyone again for attending the 2014 BEIMS International User Group Conference. We hope to see many more of you next time!

BEIMS Professional Development Days (PDD) provide valuable knowledge of how BEIMS is used at other facilities. It also offers excellent networking opportunities with the chance to share tips and tricks as well as new and upcoming releases and ideas for future BEIMS developments. BEIMS Professional Development Days are free for all BEIMS clients.

Due to our International User Group Conference being held in May, we were unable to organise any Professional Development Days in the first half of 2014, but we plan to host them in a number of states during the second half of the year...and we need YOUR help! We're looking for BEIMS sites that are able to host a PDD in the following states, around the following dates:

Western Australia (Perth) - CONFIRMED for Friday 12 September (details will be announced shortly).

Queensland (Brisbane) - Mid October

South Australia (Adelaide) - September or October

New South Wales (Sydney) - September or October

Victoria (Melbourne) - September or October

New Zealand (Auckland) - Early November

- A room that can seat approximately 20 people

- Electricity

- A blank wall to project onto

- The ability to arrange catering (in-house if possible - Mercury are happy to cover costs)

BEIMS Professional Development Days are a great chance to get a BEIMS Consultant on your site.

Supevisor Dashboard

We've made a small change to the BEIMS Supervisor Dashboard which will help clients to quickly differentiate between overdue Work Orders and outstanding Work Orders. We hope to release this update by mid-August via the BEIMS Client Portal.

Supervisor Dashboard

A number of our clients are unaware of the Bulk Work Order Assignment module. Free to all clients, The Bulk Work Order Assignment module is designed to assign multiple Work Orders to a specific tradesperson quickly and easily. Opening the tool brings up a list of all unassigned work orders, which can be filtered by a number of criteria. The screen also shows all the tradespeople skilled or qualified to carry out the work, and their current workload. The user can then quickly and easily assign the remaining work orders to the appropriate tradesperson.

It's a very handy feature, especially when combined with pocketBEIMS Work Orders on an iOS device. To install the Bulk Work Order Assignment module, contact BEIMS Support on +61 3 9672 6161 or [email protected].
